Last month, I attended the Food and Wine Festival at Disney’s California Adventure. There were booths everywhere! Chocolate, seafood, figs, pork belly, garlic, artichokes, you name it, there was a booth serving something amazing with a wine pairing to go with it. I browsed the booths, enjoying the creativity and of course the smells. I couldn’t sample anything. Then, I saw it. Saucy Lips.

My heart began to dance! I stood at the booth, sampling the Pineapple Thai sauce, then the Ghost Pepper and Tamarind hot sauce, then the Tangy Mango… My palate was tickled and so was I! Amazingly delicious sauces that were good for me, yet tasted full bodied and rich. I walked away with 4 bottles. I would have bought more but I had to carry them with me for the rest of my 12+ hours at Disney.
Up to this point, I had been making my own sauces and dips. I have made homemade sugar free ketchup, worstershire sauce, and BBQ sauce, with varying degrees of success. I enjoy adding flavor but buying them is usually out of the question, since most store bought sauces have at least a few things I can’t or won’t eat.
I use tons of fresh herbs and spices and squeeze fresh citrus juice on all sorts of things, but let’s face it, sometimes you just want something different. Something interesting.

It is beautiful in it’s simplicity. Obviously, I don’t get paid for advertising. My audience of 20 or so does not appeal to big time advertisers. Haha. I am telling you about these sauces because they made me happy. I hope they will make you happy, too.
